As one does, I redesigned my blog. It was an excuse for me to try out the recently announced Claude Design. A lot has been made about it being a competitor for Figma, but I’m not the person to make that sort of review, as I was a novice Figma user and I’m going to be a novice Claude Design user as well. I pretty much just prompted, answered its questions, went through a few iterations, and then exported everything.
For me personally, one of the cool things was seeing Claude Design say that it could export to Astro. Seeing a tool recommend something that I helped build will never stop being a shot of confidence. Anyways, I think it did a good job with the design, but is it any better than if I had run Claude Code locally? For my use-case probably not, but it has more bells and whistles than I took advantage of.
The previous design of the blog was a bit experimental in that it used multi-column layout. I always liked this layout in newspapers and found it easier to read. It has never caught on on the web and that’s a shame to me, but I can’t lie that it was somewhat awkward to read. So alas, we’ll do boring scrolling like everyone else.
Hopefully this design sticks for longer.
